Built Engine?

So how many miles is too many miles to rebuild an engine with forged internals without significantly effecting the integrity of the block? My car has about 85k on it and I have been thinking about going FI for a while and am seriously considering it at this point (now that school bills are finally out of my way...for now). So is this too many miles? Should I consider buying a built short block? BTW I hope to see 300+whp.

i dont think that the block will be compromised at all...have you ever had internal engine problems that would cause a problem with the block? When you get it rebuilt you will have to get a bore depending on what piston you go with so the walls will be fine. I dont think that a block will loose strength

I haven't had any engine problems with my car (knock on wood).

Your block should be fine. Make sure to get a compression check and if its good, you're good to go (boost to the limit of the stock rods). If not, get a leak-down test done, should tell you whats wrong with it and go from there.

The only time when you need forged internals is when you are trying to push out big numbers

^^ i think 300+Whp is quite big number fo the stock zetec internals...

as for the question; you should be ok with the stock block but also CGI block is a good option for FI imo...

yep that is what i done. i would love to have the cgi block but that thing would more than double the cost of the project. i am getting an svt block. that will allow me to build my motor with out removing my motor, lol. then just swapping them when i get it finished. and it will give me the oil squirters too :P
