thinking about removing my turbo...

this thing has caused nothing but problems, i dont know if i got a bad kit (roush) or if the guys who installed it are idiots or what but the time has come that i may take that piece of shit off. all of the vital lines run under the turbo or egr tube, so they constantly break and crack. numerous coolant lines, vacuum lines and the egr tube itself have broken. right now the egr tube is broken some where and the shitty oil return hose (yes the kit had a return hose not a steel braided line) is leaking steadily on it causing the car too smoke if it idles too long because no cool air is flowing through it. i wont even get into the other problems, motor mounts, trans mounts, it goes on. has anyone else had these problems? also all i would need to buy to take the kit off is an oil pan, a header an intake, and a tune right? or would i even need to tune it right away? thanks

How many miles are on your car? The stock engine mounts are fairly weak, if you've had the turbo on for a while they could be wearing out. As far as the oil return line and EGR tube...remove the EGR, block off the bung and cut a piece of sheetmetal to go over the flange on the intake manifold, and get a stainless braided oil return line.

If you take it off, you'll definitely want to return it to its stock tune...shouldn't be too hard, either unflash it or take the chip out.

i have like 59000 on it. i have thought of doing all of this but i dont know if it would be worth it. i am sick of replacing coolant lines i know that. maybe if i had a place that i could do all of this it would make it better.

yea i have been to toms, but he is still like 5hrs away, and he requires this thing that the marine corps doesnt give very much of called money. thats my biggest issue. tls_bmx, i have found a hose shop but i need a size and length or something cuz this is my only car and i cant just take it off and show them what i need. what did you do about all of the coolant hoses that run under the turbo? the combo of that and the egr burning them is quite annoying. im going to saw the egr off soon though and i guess just jb weld it shut

Well your main prob (just like mine was) is that you went in this project w/o money. I mean thos are somethign that needed to be changed from step one. Don't give up man a roush turbo kit is a nice and good kit. Did you get it tuned? See instead of getting a turbo timer you have have gotten some better eng mount. You've already put so much in to the car that what needs to be fixed is not that big of a deal.

ok here are some pics of the coolant lines and where they are.

and as far as the egr goes. there isnt any need to cut any thing. just unbolt it and take it off, lol. i have a plug for the exhaust side if you need one i can try to find it. and far as the intake you can make a block off plate like mine or fill it with jb. just let me know about that plug. it would work much better than the jb on the exhaust side.

the return line is 2 5/8" around. i cant measure diameter because i can take it off. just get a peace about a foot long and cut it to fit. i couldnt get a perfect measurement on it because my car was hot. hope it helps.

yeah dont give up on the roush kit. it is a good kit. just save up some money and get tom to do his magic.

if you found the shop for the hose and you are sure they have it just take it off in the parking lot and bring it in and then just put the new one on right there, lol. it is only 2 hose clamps.
