What would you do??

ok, here's the scenario..I have a 2000 zx3 dailydriver with no options, bolt-ons, 120,000 miles, and adding 1500 miles a month. I have a really-really sweet deal on a 2004 svt with 23,000 miles on it. I used to drive an '02 wrx and i want, no, need turbo. Money is obviously an issue, so my original plan was to fix up my zx3, but the svt is tempting the hell outta me. I'd have to spend a bunch of money on my zetec to run how i want and think having an svt is kind of a head start, not to mention all the goodies that come with the svt are stuff i'll end up doing on the kona. I'm now thinking of keeping the kona as a daily driver and not doing any further modding on it to focus on the svt if i buy it.What would you guys do? i'm always on the zetec forums but i posted this here because i'm going the turbo route.. focus on the svt, lol

The SVT is a awesome start, especially at that many miles. If you don't want to go boost and you want to mod you will be done pretty quickly if your not tearing into the engine. If you got the modding bug, I would say keep the zx3 you will be able to do more to it. The SVT comes stock in such good shape its hardly worth modding it if you don't boost it. If you keep the zx3 you will have alot of money laying around for the difference. In the end it comes down to if you want a car that won't have alot of downtime, won't be alot lot of work to make power, and starts off in good shape. Buy the SVT, if you like to work on your car keep yours.

I had a 2004 duratec 2.3...I sold it and bought a 2004 SVT. I would never go back!!! If you're going to drop 2500-4000 on your kona zetec, you might as well spare yourself the inevitable destruction and go for the SVT...just my opinion! You will love the SVT too...is it EAP? Color?

I did the same thing your thinking about I had an 02 zx3 and ended up trading it on a 02 svt and never looked back once you get the svt you will know it was the right choice. There is alot of little things that are unique to the svt that end up making a huge difference. You will love the svt!

heelflip101>>> i love taking my car apart, but i think if i do the zx3 i'd rebuild the whole motor, if i got the svt id probably leave it pretty stock except for boost

turbovation>>> exactly what i've been thinking.. it's silver, just like my kona, non-eap, w/ 5 spoke wheels and blue/black interior

i'd still keep the kona, just leave it how it is ( intake, catback, orp) ... alternate them so i don't abuse either one, i have a long commute for school and work every day and my kona is my only car, so can't afford downtime.. plus it'd be kinda sick to have two silver foci, right?

it would be cheaper for you to build your zx3 and turbo, esp. since you can find a used turbo kit in the FS section all the time for the zx3. The svt would be better, but you could build your zx3 with good rods, good pistons(close to the svt compression) and a FR head and boost to 300hp.

I say boost the SVT and keep the kona stock and keep driving it. I wish I still had my ZX3 as a daily driver but I love my SVT SO much.

Get the SVT as well. I bought an ZX5 atx just because there was no SVT around here, They're getting very rare these babies, especially in eastern part of Canada. Guess I have to come down to the US to shop around LOL
