i was talking to the local kragen clerk, (he has a riced out civic SI that he says will run a 14.0 sec 1/4 mi stock, lol.) and he said that edelbrok has a turbo kit out for the focus that has a CARB sticker and all smog legal, any truth to this?

thats what i thought, i was looking at the edelbrock site and i saw that they make CARB exempt turbo kits but not for the focus :-( man i want a turbo so bad, but doing it legaly in CA isnt possible. i guess ill have to settle for a jr Sc or just turbo it and pay off the smog tech. lol

what is the most power i can squeez out of the JR SC, with the smaller pully and bigger injectrors? somewhere around 170-180whp?

thanks,anthony

I'm not sure the jrsc isnt really my area of expertise. Maybe Kickn or someone will shine some light on this.

I'm not sure either, but that sounds high to me. I haven't checked it out much, since the JR SC seems way too expensive for what it does. Plus they don't seem to offer the big-boost upgrade for the regular Zetec - just for the SVT (somebody else mentioned this a week or two ago).

The Vortech SC's are supposedly CARB-exempt, but get ready for the sticker shock. Check this out:

Oh, yeah - since JR won't offer the big-boost upgrade, you'll be screwed if something goes wrong with a smaller pulley. That is, the warranty definitely won't apply.

Just my input - hope it helps.

carb legal turbo shouldn't be a problem, just put the turbo after the cat..

lol, you can't put a turbo charger after the cat back, the turbo gets bolted to the exhaust manifold...lol

winnipegzx3: yes you can, you can actually bolt the turbo wherever in the exhaust you want, it's all just a matter of getting pressure to run the blades.

For example corky bell built a twin turbo kit for the nsx which had the turbos after the cat, and he built me a kit which will come after the cat on my focus.

I'm not sayin there aren't any possible trade-offs, I'm just saying it is possible, has been done, and in our case it's not so bad, if you have only moderate power plans..
