Cobalt SS SC HP Capability

I took a little cruise on the Cobalt forums, and they are getting some really good numbers out of there cars for really cheap. There is this one BBK that make those cars 250whp and 240wtq. Thats not too bad. I personally like the cars but now I am seeing a lot of them around.

yea, considerig they start out with 205-215whp, 250 is not that outta reach. Oh GM offers boost kits for the cobalt, so you can get those numbers covered under warrenty

Unlike ford, who has nothing of the sort Well actually they do, but only for the mustang, god forbid they cover everything under warrenty if you wanted to throw on a small ford racing jrsc.

15lbs with 3" pulley. the pulleyboys 2.8" pulley puts it to 17psi... after about 15 you start seeing bad heatsoat

the gm stage kits are also a very bad tune...incredibly rich...a real tune gets much more power.

though making that power is quite useless being that these axles snap with a good launch and that gm is voiding everyones warr due to drivers abuse with drivetrain...buncha bs, same crap is happening to all the gto guys. why the hell build a car that the customer can't drive unless they are cruising the highway. chevy sucks my ass.

lol
look what a jrsc boosted svt is making at the whels at 5 psi.
personally i think the ecotec is pretty much maxed out without alot of hp to give when modded. only alternative is to build the motor and make it breath alot easier. but its costly to get decent amounts of hp
a turbo on a zetec or a blower will outdo it pretty quickly for about what the ss costs itself

yup numbers might not be exact but i read somewhere they have ecotec turbos with close to 500hp and well over. The engine isnt that bad, and im sure very soon chevy will ditch the s/c ecotec and shove a turbo in the cobalt ss

My friend has in his Saturn RL a long tube intake, 2.7" pulley, bigger injectors, and GM performance tune (GM stage 1 and tune) and is making somewhere about 270 wtq and 265 whp. The stock exhaust is really the only thing restricting him now.

Where did you get that they start out with 205-215 whp??? They start out with approx. 174 whp... that is really bad considering they already have 12 lbs of boost and the jrsc on the SVT will boost that thing to like 200 whp at like 8 lbs of boost.
