Should I trade the focus for an M3?

I'm starting a new semi-career when I get my real estate license, and I need a little bit bigger car to carry clients in. I am thinking about upgrading to a 1997 BMW M3 coupe. Just some advice would be awesome. I need to know about reliability issues and general likes/dislikes about the car. The one I am thinking about purchasing is seen right here:

CLICKY M3

edit: For those who don't know I am referring to the e36 model M3.

edit 2: I know the M3 isn't much bigger than the focus, but I also want something that's quick, luxurious AND handles well (for my own selfish pleasure).

Definitely looks sweet!

Just remember though, that if you have to make any repairs they're probably going to be costly.

You might want to consider a non-M 3 series with the sport package and stickshift. Gives you a lot newer car for the money, but still several levels above the Focus. 330Ci or the upcoming 1 series will be my next car.

Frank, I know these things are very costly to repair...which is scary...but the guy is military, and the man who owned it before him was a chief officer in the Navy, so I know it's been taken care of. Plus you can just tell sometimes. I talked to the guy, he has a couple of kids and he seemed like a calm middle aged guy so I am pretty sure it has not been beaten up. He could probably get closer to 19K for it if I he wanted to.

Fazer..thanks for your input man. I dunno if I could stray away from the e36 M3. It's sport tuned more than the SVT is compared to a stock focus...and it gets to 60 in the low 6's high 5's. I just think I'de be trading down as far as performance goes if I decided to buy a non M. Plus I heard the non-M e36 had a lot more problems.

I also have to take into consideration that I have a 100K warranty on the focus. I almost feel stupid selling the focus because it's an '04 with under 60K on the clock and I have done some things to it, like suspension, intake and exhaust. I have a header in my garage and i have cams on the way. I would like to get a quaiffe if they weren't so damn overpriced and difficult to install.

Sometimes I wish I hadn't gotten the 100K warranty because I really want to mod the hell out of it.

It is a little bigger than the focus, but more importantly...it is more comfortable. I want people to trust that I will be able to sell their house and I think a certain level of class (god I feel superficial saying that) would be expected by people. I don't think they would want to see their agent roll up in a lowered ford focus...LOL..don't get me wrong..I am not dissing the focus in any way...but if I don't change cars I will be stuck borrowing my mom's Audi A6 to cart people around in.

yea, i would wait, its just about 10 years old, still pricy 15k and has over 70k miles on it, and yea any repairs will be really costly. I wouldnt do it, stick with the focus now especially if your not having problems and save your money then buy a new M3
