Need help with X-Plan pricing - invoice?

I found a Focus that sort of fits my needs at a dealership. I asked the sales person for the X-Plan price and he gave me a figure. It was about $300 OVER the invoice price I obtained using autos.msn.com and kbb.com

For exact figures: It is a Focus ST, $19845 MSRP. Dealer says the X-Plan price is $18640, invoice is $18639. A-Plan is $17881.

MSN and KBB says the invoice is $18457.

Where can I obtain an invoice price that I can HOLD the dealership to without having to trust their invoice price? I've gone this route before with Ford dealerships and them claiming my invoice prices are incorrect.

If I have to go through this BS again, I will just avoid Ford altogether. Our family has bought and owned Fords for over 30 years. The last 2 Fords were purchased within 6-7 years and we've encountered the same BS but this time I have a X-Plan PIN.

Thanks in advance!!

I used to sale cars for mazda and I can tell you MSN and KBB are full of crap.
What you need to do is ask to see the invoice. If they refuse tell them to forget it then. They should be able to show you the invoice.
Your supposed to get it under invoice. Which means the sales person makes nothing.

I thought there was about a $1500 holdback so even at invoice, the dealer still makes $1500?

KBB, MSN, and NADA both showed the same invoice which was $183 below the dealer's "invoice"

Wrong.........Thats a common missconseption. When you come in with an s-x-a or what ever plan you have you pay the bottom line. The dealerships make no money at all. They only thing they gain is another check on the score card for ford. If the dealership reaches a certian amount of sales then ford gives them lots o money. You will be paying the same price as a salesman would pay for a new car.

The invoice that the dealership has adds in shipping costs. Invoice is what the dealership pays for the car.

As I said in another post, who cares what the dealer says? Tell them wha you are willing to pay and walk away. You have the checkbook, you have the power.

As for dealer holdback;

What is dealer holdback and what is it for?
Holdback is an amount (typically 1 to 3 percent of the MSRP) a manufacturer sets aside from a sale and keeps in an account for the dealer. The amount is built into the invoice price, but periodically—usually every three months—accumulated holdback amounts from vehicles sold during the interval are paid back to the dealer. So holdback, in essence, acts as a dealer discount—a refund from the manufacturer that in the end lowers a vehicle's invoice price. The official purpose of holdback is to ensure that dealers have enough money on hand during the year to pay taxes and other ongoing overhead charges.

Hey guys haven't been on in awhile.

I just offer all my cutomers to see the invoice for the car, it is your right as a buyer in my opinion. Now that is just me because I work off internet leads for my sales so I am sure it's different for other saleman.

I never even knew that Fazerdude interesting, is that for all dealerships I am assuming ?
