Walmart oil change.

Today was a good day. I normally get my oil changed at the dealership because they fill out the warrenty card info (for mantenence) I called to book an appt and they were full. I talked to a few friends and they said they liked going to Walmart for oil changes..so why not give it a try.

I went to a localWalmart looked around first, signed paper work and made sure they are warrenty covered, waited, it was done in 25 min. So I went to get my car and wow!!!! They took the time to armour-all the tires and clean the rims, which is nice because the rims never get clean at a carwash. I was so happy that I went back and thanked them for doing it. I know its not a big deal but its the thought that counts. After I got home I read the recipt and they showed all the checks the did on the car (tire pressure, battery test..25 items in all)

Bottom line for me..it cost me $23.50 for an oil change and they went the extra mile.

did they put the pressure and results of each check on the receipt? If not theres no way to tell that they did them...

But its great to hear that! There are alot of shoddy places out there, thats why only I take care of my car, no matter what the chore is...Unless its way too mechanically out of my range...Then i take it to a shop i trust, and are family friends too.

I change the filter every three months or 4500km, I dont know if that would effect me?
They use Penzoil filters at least, there are worse. Im just saying that for my first experience it was good

http://www.champlabs.com/

this company makes 90% of the filters you use. like fram etc etc. so unless your buying WIX or something of that sort your prob getting the same filter with a different name.

I'm glad you had a good experience with them, If I were you I would check your drain-plug immedately. They have a way with rounding them off.

I tend to avoid Wal-Mart entirely, even though I occasionally work there as a field technician. Maybe things are different in Canada, but I wouldn't want to trust my car's longevity to someone who makes little more than minimum wage and is encouraged to get on welfare and apply for food stamps by their employer. But that's just me...

The SuperTech filters they use are a lot better than most you find; especially for the cost. They're a synthetic media and filter just as well as the filters that are 2-3 times the price. I'll see if I can find the study on them I read about them. I've used them in my Jeep for 10+ years and my previous Taurus for a few years as well. No problems at all.

Good to hear that it is possible Wal-Mart is at least treating some of its automotive customer's right. The local one here has been known to leave the oil cap off and underfill with oil.

If you don't like the filter they use bring your own and request that they use it. You won't get much of a price break on the oil change, but I've done that. I usually change my own, but there's always that oil change that comes due in mid-Febuary with everything covered in slush when I pay someone else to do it.
