My Dad is looking for a new car - suggestions

Alright, my Dad owns a '94 Toyota MR2, and although he loves it to death, it's basically crapping out on him at this point and he's looking for a new sporty-car that can live up to it (or even surpass it). He looked at a few cars like the Pontiac Solstice and the Mazda Miata among a few others ones and he wasn't THAT impressed.

I'm not one with great car knowledge and figured you guys may know of a good new car that's out right now or coming out that my Dad may be real tempted to buy. He's looking for a reasonable price and $30,000 seems like to be the highest limit... so in short, something cheap, reliable, sporty and fun.

The new MX-5 and Solstice are Great cars, also take a look at the new MazdaSpeed 3 and the RX-8.

Thanks guys, the 350z seems like a beast, looks pretty cool too... I'll see what he says about that one, s2000 is a possibility too.

Otherwise, I don't think he would care for the MazdaSpeed 3 since he isn't a big fan of hatchbacks (sadly).

its only a hatch by technicality...stylisticly it is still a sport coupe. i have drive an 06, and it was SO much fun. it was honestly as easy to drive as my focus, just a hell of a lot faster. for 30 he can easily an enthusiast, and if he waits for the 2007s it will have 315hp up from 300hp in 2006. that is what i am going to replace my focus with once i am done with college.
