GM In Talks with Working With Holden Again!!!

Some of you may have heard that GM is going to try to make Pontiac an all RWD family in the near future. Also very soon the new 2007 Holden Commodore will make it to showrooms downunder and GM and Holden are already talking about using it to push pontiac to rwd. You can read alittle about it in the recent Motor Trend magazine which sports a reworked commodore to look like a pontiac on the cover. Possibly the next Grand Prix, but could bare another name as well, GM is hoping to have this out by the end of the decade if all goes well. Also the commodore is one of the first cars to sport the new zeta platform, which is also going to be used to build the Camaro and the GTO when it returns. I think the car looks pretty good, and i like the stance, id much rather see a lip spoiler on it, but with a 6.0l V8 pumping out 385hp itll definitly make use of the big rear wing. Plus it seems that this is what many americans want, enough room to haul their families with the ease of 4 doors, and enough power to blow the doors of most cars on the road. Hopfully if it does come, americans will bite, and itll do much better then the previous GTO....which i personally think is a great bargin and car, but of course not many sold b/c wahh wahh wahh, it doesnt have hood scoops and it doesnt look like the old goat. Oh and the G6 GXP is ready for production and will be around shortly....some might think its alittle to aggressive, but it should sell to those looking to beat up on the tuned imports but want to go with a domestic.

Hopefully Ford will follow suit to keep things interesting by bringing Ford Austrailia's answer to the Holden company, maybe their FPV vehicles or something, the ones in GT4 lol, can't remember the names sorry.

possibly, and it would be cool, but ford needs to focus on other things rather then gas guzzling 4 door saloons.

the ausies get all the good stuff, sounds like it would be pretty cool, the gto was a flop and it was just not what it should have been, sure balls to the wall power but thats where it ended, hopefully gm will pay more attention to the desgin of the drivetrain and suspension to give the car its full potential, i dont like gm never have never will but i hope that this time they at least learn from their mistakes

If I'm not mistaken the Zeta platform was killed early this year. The Camaro is being built on a whole new platform. As for the GTO, there are rumors, but nothing has been officially announced... or even reliably leaked that I know of. MT has had some predictions, but according to my sources, I wouldn't hold my breathe.

It wasn't killed, they just changed the name to "Global RWD Platform." The new Holden Commodore is already being sold and the Camaro is confirmed on it. GTO has not been, although Lutz said he'd expect a Pontiac on the platform but it won't be a Firebird.

I liked the GTO it looked like what I though a mondern muscle car would look like if they kept it around. Ford should fire back by bringing the falcon back. There are no RWD cheap cars anymore. And not to mention the fact that they keep making cars heavier and heavier. It really makes me sick. My focus weighs 2800lbs. with me in it and a little under half a tank of gas. New compact cars wiegh in at 3000lbs. or more just sicking. I think it is a good idea for pontiac to go rwd drive again. I thought that was one of the best things that cadilac did.
