got my focus in an accident...

well, 2 days ago, i was going to work and had an accident. the 405s is a busy as hell fway... also from my right the 118 merging lame came in and a big rig came from there. the big rig had some speed, maybe 40-50 and the right 3 lanes merge into 1 very fast. i think he did not realized that, saw that the traffice was stoped since there is an exit right there. merged infront of me, slammed the brakes and bam. i was in him... not just that, but he did not realized what he did, and left. so it was a hit and run... my car has around 4k damage. new lights, hood, grill, radiator, suppoer for radiator, maybe the intake maiforld, since the car stalls and overheats quite fast. can not keep the engine runing at idle. so i am pretty pissed. i got to ride in a 2006 camry rental and i might say i like it, and for a big car actually handles better then my focus. i am suprised i said that too. so... i am considering a new car. mine is a 05 2 door zx3 se. i might want to get a 2006 zx4 se, but not sure, since my dealings with brakes and bad bearings left me sour about the ford. i did love the seafoam blue i had as a loaner when my car was in the shop. i am not sure. would also get an auto, since the damn stick is awfull... and would go the bling bling way, rather then the sport, since after all i need a daily driver not sport... recomend me replacements, since i am not sure... must be good on gas, so, at least 25mpg or better average...

Go Mazda 3 or ST, the 2.3 is a much better motor for mileage and auto transmissions.

Bummer about the accident, it's a shame that you didn't catch his license plate. He probably knew what he did, but if he'd stopped then he would've lost his CDL over a reckless driving ticket. A long time ago I had a friend who had a restored 76 Celica ST that he and his dad worked on. It was his prized possession- parked it way out in the back of the parking lots. One day we stood and watched as a rig rolled the back tires of the trailer over the front of his car- and just kept going.

S2 said his Volvo S40 was a great car, and got better mileage than his Focus did. I'm not sure how the resale is on those cars- probably very high. You'd have to get one 3 years old or so to get a decent price. The same goes for the Toyota.

If you're doing a lot of highway driving, GM's are excellent highway vehicles. You'd have to forget about bling and such though. IMO cars are better if specialized. If you want a car to mod and spend money on, then it should be one you never want to get rid of because you will never get your investment back. If you want a good daily driver to get back and forth to work- the best cars for that are usually not the best ones to mod for performance or looks because road travel wrecks everything.

if you want to invest in a new car and like toyotas, the newer corrola (type s, at least) are really nice. i drove one before and it was worth it, but the accelerator was a little touchy for me.

atx: less fun, more convenience.

good luck, buddy! sorry to hear about your fun on the freeway...

I am not a huge fan of the corolla as I think they're way overpriced. It's an average car that does not excel in really any department. That said, I would highly recommend the mazda 3 because you're going to get a lot more in many areas for the same price. It does not ride as smoothly as any of the toyota's, however. It is going to be a little bit bumpy becuase it has a stiff suspension. Another car you might look into for a good price is the Scion tC....it has a sweet oversized sunroof.
