New to this

So I have done some of my cars before but never did performance.

Would you recommend doing the performance before the exterior ?

I have no idea what is best for the car to make it quick but still somewhat maintain my warranty which has alot of time left on it.

Thanks for any help guys !!

oh cool your from long island, what part of you from? Performance and keep your warrenty, well theres not much, one for sure is a cat-back or in the focus' case a flex back exhaust, but they are still called cat-back exhausts anyway, but if you get one ford really cant void your warrenty. As long as you leave inside the engine alone and you leave the emissions system, which is the catalytic converter alone they cant void your warrenty just b/c you have mods. Not all dealerships obey this law but the law is that they have to link the problem to the modification in order for them to void your warrenty. What kinda tranny do you have, manual or automatic, itll make a big difference. But either way the best beginning performance mods to do is exhaust, intake, and tune. Well welcome to the forum

Go fast goodies. It's way more fun to suprise someone with a stock looking car. As DrkKnight614 said exhaust, intake, and tune. If you or someone you know can swap the TB out quickly do that to. You would just have to put the stock TB back on when you went in for warrenty work.

Unfortunately, to keep the warranty you can't go all crazy on the performance mods. You can put on a good number of aftermarket parts before voiding a warranty though. Listed in order of least importance:

Throttle body
SCT Flash tuner
cat-back exhaust
Air intake

If you're an instant gratification person, then you'll like the Stealth CAI pioneered by Blazing Copper ZX3. I have one of these on my car (I am an instant gratification person), and it does a decent job for the $. The more costly designed CAI's are much better power producers though. I wouldn't recommend the Steeda SRI- ask Frank about it (Algorhythm) he had one and removed it.

I replied to your question in General Chat.. but I went all out and didn't consider warranty WOOO HOOO!!! Duratec turbo!!! (goodbye warranty)

oooooops my bad... I just noticed you have an 02, so you either have the SPI or the Zetec motor. For some reason I thought you had a newer version. Actually, the Zetec has more options for power than the Duratec right now. You can go FI without voiding your warranty!!! Ford Racing Parts even markets a supercharger for the Zetec.

So do you know which motor you have in your car?
