Focus Clutch problem

I have a 2003 Ford Focus which is my pride and joy. Yesterday while driving home from work, I noticed that my clutch was acting up. I had always been able to identify the area where the clutch would catch, and hear a small audible click. Now, the clutch feels very loose to push, not giving the resistance that it once did. It also "catches" at the very top of the clutch, I dont have to press it in very far at all. Anyone have any idea what my problem may be, how I can check it and what my best solution is?

Thanks!!

Check your clutch hydraulic fluid. You look at that the same place that you check your brake fluid. If it is low, add some. But pay attention to see if you contunue to lose fluid.

Take it to a dealer and have them fix it under warantee. That is what it is there for.

On a hydralic clutch its usually one of two things: the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. Both are relatively easy fixes , but as mentioned should be covered under warranty.

I have Svt w/ 9000 miles on it. Have noticed rattling with clutch in neutral. Guess it could be a heat sheild. Clutch seems fine but all talk about flywheels tearing up clutch ect got my stress level up a bit. I wonder if Ford came out with new fix for flywheel ect. ??

Thoma1hawk, the rattle may or may not be a concern to worry with. Although with you are talking about it sounds like your flywheel. For peace of mind, I would consider taking your SVTF in to be checked out. I have read of similar details and it ended up being a loose flywheel causing the problems. I have heard of no fix other than a replacement for the flywheel on the SVTF, although I have read and heard about a new clutch that Ford has upgraded to help on the premature clutch failure prone to the SVTF. At the moment it is hear say, time will tell I guess.
