Extended Service Plan-PowertrainCARE

We have this warranty on our car.

It won't start, stuck at a bookstore right now. Poor car :( When we try to start it, the dash lights will come on, radio will come on, the lights will operate but it just clicks when you turn the key.

FIL is going to come to our place and get us at 9 am to go check out the car. My guess, as someone who knows very little about cars, is starter or alternator.

I wonder if rental is covered even if it isn't transmission (which I think is what power train care covers)

From my reading in the ESP thing, it is only covered if a part covered under this plan needs to be fixed.

Am I right? Anybody know what could be wrong? Anybody want to come beat the crap out of the car? This will be the 2nd time we've had to take it to the shop (3rd if you count when the wire between the battery and something else just needed to be cleaned)

check your battery connection, sounds like not enough voltage to start. jump it and go...if it dies out again fine, keep jumping it. could be a few things

There is some corrosion on the one battery cable where it connects to the battery. If that was the problem we didn't have anything with us to try and clean it off.

FIL is going to clean the corrosion first and see if that works and then if that doesn't I think he plans to try and jump it. And I'm guessing if that doesn't work he'll try a new battery.

It has been hesitant to start lately. Like you'd have to hold the key at the starting position just a little bit longer than normal to get it to start.

And I could swear that sometimes we'd have just turned on the car and it seemed like the dash lights and/or the head lights would kind of dim then brighten again.

FIL jumped it and car started up. So hubby and FIL are heading to buy a new battery for the car.

Dang...hubby just told me the only thing holding the battery in the car was the wires! The bracket to hold it was gone!
