Looking for a focus as a DD

I'm currently station in Japan righ tnow for another 11 months, and when I return home next August, I'll be taking deleivery of my 2007 Alloy Grey Mustang GT. I'll wait a few months afterwards and then get a DD.

My question is, which Focus motor should I get? I need a reliable one and one that gets good MPG.

I know its a FAQ, I searched threads with MPG, but I dont know which motor is best.

Depends on if you want new or used, and what your preferences are. The '05+ Foci are "facelifted" (cosmetic changes with the same chassis and 90% same body) with a squared-off interior, whereas the '00-'04 have what I think is an aesthetically-pleasing interior and better looking exterior. There's three engines that have been in the USDM Focus, the 8v SOHC 2.0 SPI, 16v DOHC 2.0 Zetec and Duratec and a 2.3L Duratec. The SPI came in '00-02 sedans and wagons, the Zetec was in all '00-'04 bodystyles, the 2.3 Duratec was in '03/'04 sedans and hatches as well as the '05+ ST, and the 2.0 Duratec is in all bodystyles '05+. If you're just looking for a daily driver to get you around town I'd suggest a low-mileage used '03/'04, you can get them fully loaded for under $8,000 with 50,000 or less on the clock.

Did you get the mustang from that MWR deal where you buy it and make payments and get delivery when you get back to the states. I was in Japan too for a year liked it allot beter than the year is Iraq. Hey though sounds like you got a plan for the best of both worlds a new stang then a focus dd. If I had the chance to get any focus I want a ZX3 2.3 5 speed. But it thats not a option for you try to get a 2.0. My wifes get way better gas millage than my 2.0 and they are both autos. I think manuals get a little better millage though and are funner to drive wish mine was. But good luck on your choice.
