need A/C help on a 2000

Hey all,

My son has a 2000 focus and has an issue with the blower for the dash vents. everything works great until we switch it to "high" on the fan then the fan quits and the light for the A/C goes off. if you switch it back to a lower setting it will come back on. any ideas on where to look first.

check the fuses both in the car and under the hood to see if any of them have blown
or it could be a bad relay. If it is the relay I would not know how to tell if it has
gone bad.

I had the same problem on my 2000 sedan. It was the fuse. Check the fuse's under the steering wheel to the left.. There will be a peice that you can pop off. Turn it around and it shows the diagram. Look for the image of the car, with a half oval line going around it with an arrow at the end. I think its #58 if I'm not mistaken. It will be a 7.5a fuse. I used a 10 as I was told it shouldn't be a problem. Be working great ever since. Good luck.

Just had one of these at the dealership the other day. But everyone is on the right track CHECK THE FUSES, Drop the glove box down by just squeesing both sides when its open. and on the left of the blower motor is the RELAY inspect that and finally youd have to take out the center panel and get to the switch.

In which case was the problem. It was a bad switch and it costs about 20 Bucks. If you need any more information on this or any other problems PM me or just start a new topic.
