Bought a new Focus today

07 ZX4 SES, liquid grey. Pictures to come tomorrow when it's sunny out, but it looks like every other bone stock liquid grey SES you've ever seen.

Pretty interesting little car.. though it is ridiculously slow and doesn't handle very good.

Anyway, I have a question.. how do I turn on my fog lights?

Read the manual, or the quickstart guide. Pull the healgith swtich out.

Also slow is relative, Drive a toyota Yaris and then tell me how slow it is. The car also is the top handaling car in its class so I dont know where you got that from.

e-defender, eh. my girlfriend has a 4-door Civic that feels like a Formula 1 car compared to this thing.

but I shelled out the money for it, I'm not bashing it.. if I wanted something nicer I would have bought something nicer.

spend a little more time behind the wheel, and believe me, the Focus can outhandle a four-door civic. Put some mods into her, and she'll liven right up. It takes some cash, but a fast focus is something to fear

This is from Cars.com:

2007 Ford Focus

Cons
- Sedans and wagons not as sporty as claimed
- Performance with automatic
- Side-impact crash-test rating
- Resale value of S models

I'm guessing that it's just the hatches (prefferably the ZX3) that have the great handling.

Not as "sporty" as claimed? What exactly does that term mean? Too vague.

All the Foci I have driven have been above average in handling. They do roll more than some other cars, but they still stick well, are very responsive and very predictable. Of course, "handling" is a vague term as well. Many people associate handling with lack of body roll, but handling has a very broad definition. Also keep in mind that new tires need to wear off the release coating and will feel a bit slippery for a while. THe high seating position also takes some getting used to.

My ZX4 ST really astounded me with it's handling prowess, but then it has an upgraded suspension.

The complete summary from cars.com;
Quote:
New or Notable
• 136-hp four-cylinder
• Euro-style handling
• Two new exterior colors
• Four body styles
• 151-hp ZX4 ST performance sedan
• Street Appearance Package

What We Like
+ Maneuverability
+ Interior space
+ Hatchback versatility
+ Distinctive styling

What We Don't
- Sedans and wagons not as sporty as claimed
- Performance with automatic
- Side-impact crash-test rating
- Resale value of S models
I think "sporty" is used here to describe the appearance, not the handling.

I think my 05 ZXW handles extremely well, and I'm comparing it to a BMW Z4. Obviously the Z4 handles better, but I continue to be amazed at how well the Focus handles for a $16K car.

I totally agree, I don't think it can be beat for $16k. Toss some high performance tires on and she'll shine. I have the SVT-spec ContiSportContacts and the traction is quite remarkable.

Also, you might want to learn how to use all the switches on your car before you criticize its performance too too much...

PS - healgith swtich = headlight switch!

Congrats!

Do the "Stealth DIY Intake" mod, it really wakes the engine up. Only cost is a cone filter.

Change out the POS Goodyear tires.

Hard to make a car handle great AND ride well. The Focus has this.

Car and Driver 10 best list 5 years in a row...

I test drove everything in the class and nothing came close in ride/handling/cargo (i have the wagon)/MPG/Price etc. (and I can easily afford anything in its class)
