ripped off buying 93 civic, need help finding what to fix(56k warning)

ok. i'm guessing most of you might not know anything about civics but i will appreciate any help i can get. buying a 93 civic ex 2door with the 1.6 liter engine, from a guy that rebuilds salvage cars and stuff and resells them. anyways, he was asking 2300(hah) but i got it down to about 1000 then i have to buy the parts, its a friend of mine so yeah...

the car surges at idle, as in, it will sit there and rev itself up, idle, rev, idlle, on and on and on. see if youcan pick out anything in here that might cause it?

heres the interior. as you can see its in need of a good shampooing and detailing. seats a little torn. wont bother me, i can buy seat covers, and unless i sell it to my girlfriend(she needs a car) i can buy racing seats:P needs new speakers and speaker covers(as you can tell)

heres the radio(or lack therof) is this wiring even salvagable?? theres no harness or anything. just a bunch of random colored wires that i have no idea about(never done stereo work) and the antenna wire is still there.

lol... anyone know anything about civic wiring?? i have no idea what they do , or where they plug into, if anything at all.

exactly what the picture says, i have no idea what this does.

i'm sure this isnt the way they come out of the factory. i dont know what those two wires do, or what went into that shrink wrap.

here is where the battery goes.
1:whoever had it first hardwired the fan to something. i THINK this wire is the original wire that went to the fan. who knows.
2:(have to look really close) or this could be the wire to the fan. its a wire with a fuse in it(fuse taken out though) also the wire has been cut, so i dont know where it led to.
3:pcv hose, doesnt fit onto the cai installed on the engine. anyone know where i can get a new hosethat is a few inches long but is small enough to fit over that? could this also be why it surges?
4:i dont know what this dildo is on the cai.

here is the full engine bay. this is the wire that they used to hardwire the fan. i'm going to have to get a new wire and make it longer so i can zip tie it somewhere SO IT ISNT FREAKING HANGING ACROSS THE ENGINE/EXHAUST MANIFOLD...geez i dont know what the ppl that had it before did to it.

this is the body kit bumper that they had on the car. all of the holes that attach it to the frame are cracked. i think it is strong enough to just put some nuts and bolts and washers through and tighten them really tight and still be held on. its not fiberglass, its polyurethane.

needs 2 new tires on drivers side, passenger side is fine, strangely. however the passenger rear has a diff size tire and diff rim, and its notthe spare lol. also drivers side lock is really hard to open/lock. maybe its cuz theres no power? i dont know.

lol, the ricecan that comes witht he car. they put it on so shitty it melted part of the bumper. it sounds SO high pitched, i have to have that changed out. lol. i looked at the rest of the exhaust, and the piping looks aftermarket(from the muffler shop around the corner, where i take my focus to, but i cant tell the size, and if its catback why is it so freaking high pitched...)

Okay, here's your problems and solutions:

1. It's a Civic. Solution: Stop eatting rice.
2. Car is shot to hell. Solution: Buy a Haynes tear down and work from there.
3. It's a Civic. Solution: STOP EATTING RICE.

Good day.

Nah, seriously, if you have questions, get a haynes. I don't know why you'd waste a grand on that, but that's your choice. It'll cost more to do anything to it than it's really worth. Since it's a '93, haynes will have a book on it and the junk yard will have TONS of parts. Good luck, don't get electricuted or suffer rice poisoning.

what a fun project....

Scrap out all of the previous wiring, Aftermarket Alarm, clean up the engine bay.

replace $25 ebay intake, with one that works, and has the right plumbing for the vacuum hoses, or PCV valve...

...At least it has no CEL, or flashing LED on the ECU...

The radio wiring, may be salvagable... However, I would run Brand New speaker wires, Ground, Power, and switched power wires....

just because that 15 year old wiring doesn't look like it wants to have anything to do with making you happy. The only wire I'd continue to use in there, is the antenna

that car is prolly worth $1000 or so not a bad buy INO....older Honda's always do that idle surge, something with the ECU and it warming up/pumping oil....no biggie. My suggestion, tear off/out anything not worth salvaging and replace it. engines can typically run to 200,000 so depending on how many miles may need some internal work. You can use a multimeter and battery or tone generator to figure out the stereo wires no prob...good luck should be a fun fixer upper

the whole reason i bought it, is b/c (even though i'm 19) my mom gets all pissy when i do something to my focus, and its an automatic, so i got mad and went out to buy an old 5speed car and fix it up. i paid like 100 bucks a week..(which is nothing to me...i do pizza hut delivery and make like 30+ a night on normal nights just in tips). it kinda sucks, because i really want to keep it, and my girlfriend just got her liscence and needs a cheap car, and i told her i -MIGHT- sell it to her. and she'll probably get pissy if i dont lol.

First thing I would do is sand down the rear bumper and hit it up with Duplicolor White Enamel... (cheap at walmart)

It won't be a perfect match, But at least it'll look good when someone is behind you...

I would say tear it down, buy a manual and start over. Maybe even an engine swap. Im guessing the "clifford" switch, when activated fires giant Clifford the big Red Dog stuffed animals at other cars. Or im just an idiot, but either way looks like you have a nice project on your hands. Good luck!

there is nothign wrong with that intake, its better then stock, plug up that tube on it that you circled in red.

the best advise, people around here know the focus, well some people know hondas decently, your best be would be finding a civic forum and posting there.
