A decent car for $1500

Lil_RedZX3's dad is gonna buy his sister (Aaron's sister) a car. He't got $1500 to spend. They want it to be a 4 door, 5 speed and a 90+. The only thing they could think of as of now is a Neon. I know that there has to be others. Any suggestions??

Does it matter if it's import or domestic? There's always the Honda Civic. We give it a lot of crap but a Civic sedan would make a good first car. Maybe an 91+ Ford Escort? Most of those are ATX's though... hmmm.

Good gas mileage is a must. I thought of the Civic, but how much are the parts gonna be when you have to work on it?

can maybe find a 93 ford probe 4cyl for $1500, I had a 94 GT bought it for $6k in 98, so I would think the base modle would be around 1500ish, they are nice cars and still stylish imo

Civic. Like a 91 hatchback or something. I bought mine for $1800 with 148,000 miles on it. It's my beater car that gets me 35 mpg and I hardly take care of it except for the oil and such and it runs almost brand new. The only downside is that 92 hp does not make it very fun to dirve but it's great when gas prices go up!

Yeah, guys you're forgetting she said FOUR DOORS! If that's the case then that eliminates a lot of cars. Honestly an early-90's or late-80's Civic sedan would be perfect. We are in the process right now of trying to sell a 92 Civic sedan that we acquired when my grandma died, and 1500 bucks is about what they're worth apparently. They definitely get good gas mileage. And parts aren't usually that bad, although I wouldn't recommend going to the Honda dealer for parts unless it's something where you don't want to chance it on aftermarket parts from the local parts store.

I can think of a few other cars in that price range that would be cool, but the Civic meets all the criteria the best...
