damn it. ruined FR wheel

I was trying to get onto Grandville Bridge and Prov. Hwy 99 or something like that so I can make it onto I-5 S. Well, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take Pacific or Ocean st and while map reading, I curbed my front right whl.

Hub cap flew off and rolled like a quarter down the hallway. The steering wheel vibrated like hell at anything over 35mph. It was so bad that I had to pull into a neighborhood and swap the FR and RR so my wheels won't vibrate.

I was able to make the 300 mile drive, but my steel wheel was bent up beyond the repair of re-balance.

So this comes out to $65 in unplanned repair cost.
About four hours wasted.

and it caused me to buy alloy rims... unplanned upgrade. so I have a big hole in my pocketbook now.

Well, be thankful you didn't have alloys yet! That would have been infinitely more devastating. Sucks to hear about that.

Why did you upgrade to the alloys instead of buying a new steelie and calling it a day? I guess then would be a better time than ever to upgrade.

Because the car was vibrating like a vibrator. I had the car on a lift at the tire shop and they showed me how badly it wobbled as they turned it. The steel wheels are at least useful to have for snow tires anyways

One steelie on my car was bent when I bought it used. I also had to move it to the back to stop the vibrations. I'm also considering upgrading to alloys instead of buying a replacement steelie for the bent one.
