Outsiders comment on the FOCUS situation

"Believe it or not, the MazdaSpeed3 is built on the excellent Euro-spec Ford Focus chassis. Yes, Europe gets a Focus that handles as well and looks 10-times better than the Mazda3. Our U.S.-spec Focus looks like a rental car and gets stuck with decade-old technology. Bummer... If Ford got off its ass and sold the new Euro Focus here, you'd likely see a Focus on this list rather than the Mazda. Oh well... at least Mazda has the good sense to bring its good cars to the U.S."

This was a comment taken from IGN's car section...

Reading this it really sounds like something one of us (focus fanatics) might say.

It also proves that people other than us (focus fanatics) think that fords unwillingness or inability to bring over the euro spec focus is really #*(&$% stupid

^^Yes the RS is nice, but the new ST has 300 hp and its alittle bigger for those taller people who might just be sitting in the back or hauling their college lives around in them

the RS is old too, lol

what they need to do is bring over the New ST, and make an RS model for the new platform.

I'm sure there are TONS of crazy logistics and such with this, but don't you think they could take something kind of like orders for an RS here in the states? They're scared if they bring the RS, it won't sell. And realistically, on the BIG scheme of things, it won't. Now, all of us would love to buy one, but that's what, MAYBE 500-1000 cars? If that? Sure we'd all WANT one, but how many could realistically BUY one in a year? So if they made a commitment, marked it up a bit, and got a FEW here as need be. . .

I know there's a LOT more to it than that. But i wish someone would just THINK about it.

Halo cars are never meant to be big money-makers on their own, but highly visible advertisements for the standard cars, as well as engineering tests. You make an RS to get people to buy ST170s, and ST170s to get people to buy the standard cars. You don't think Porsche makes much on the GT3s or GT2s after development costs, do you? But they keep Porsche in the media and in the hearts of the faithful, while allowing them to real-world test technologies for track and street.

Of course, the real problem is that the average American can't understand why they should pay good money for a quality small car, especially if it's domestic.

They sell them in mexico right? Would it be to hard to get it registered in the states? I mean you could drive it into the country.
