Traded in zx3 for SVT!!!

Well after kicking myself in the a$$ for getting a zx3 in october of 2001 (5 months before the released the svt) I went out and got one today. Pitch black, blue interior... I love her. So now I guess i can move from ztec chat to svt chat. With all the money i dumped into my zx3, It still didn't feel as "right" as the svt does. I'm in love with a car and it's sick. I think I'm going to go outside and make out with my car. GRRRRRRR

How's about a little feedback in my 1st post?
I'd appreciate it, especially knowing you've had both a ZX3 and SVT.
Just curious as to your impressions of each.
Thanks!

Zx3 vs SVT

Hey man, just figured I'd try and help you decide what to go with. So here's some suggestions and answers for/to your questions:
The difference in gas milage has to do with the SVT having VariableValveTiming, ie:VTECH and the different compression ratios. The closest way I can compare it to is the difference between a celica gt and a celica gts: The gt has 140 hp and the GTS has 180 hp, the only difference between the two motors is the VVT. Same 1.8 litres of displacement, just different internals... just like the difference between a SVT zetec and a ZX3 zetec. As for your winter driving, I have had plenty of experience with that as well, because I was stationed in CT on a submarine for 4 years. FWD cars are great for snow and ice. I can't tell you how many times I've driven past RWD cars and trucks sliding down icy hills. The disadvantage of an SVT in your climate situation is the Z rated tires... NOT good and the salt and ice will F*&K up your tires real quick. As for what made me switch between my zx3 and SVT, it all boils down to money. No matter how much money i dumped into the zx3, it still doesn't feel as solid or as capable to do the fun driving I enjoy. The SVT just feels "RIGHT" I had a kick a$$ suspension get up on my zx3(Eibach springs and sway bars, koni struts, focussport tie bars) and it doesn't compare to the SVT. I had a lot done to my motor as well, and i was still 15-20 hp shy of an SVT. So take all this for what you will, and regardless of your decision you'll love you focus

No offense dude but your full of crap.

You had "Eibach springs and sway bars, koni struts, focussport tie bars" "and it doesn't compare to the SVT"

What are you smoking, the SVT suspension is only slightly better then stock. But somehow its better than all the parts you had before? Riiiiight?

So race suspension doesn't make for the "fun driving I do" but stock parts do, interesting?

Btw SVT's do not have VVT or VTECH

Yeah, but whippet is the one who said "VTECH" - go back and look at the post.

The SVT suspension may be only slightly better than stock but either way, "plain" or SVT, the Focus handles much better than most of the other cheapo FWD cars out there. The handling is one of the few things that virtually all reviewers consistently praise about the Focus.
