thoughts on new car

ok so im been rolling around in a zx3 for about a year now...i like it but i have alot of plans for it...couple of days ago i signed up for the army...so now i have a steady income and i dont have to pay for food, or rent for four years...anyways my question is should i mod out the focus or trade the focus in on a svt, Evo 8, STI, Speed 6 or Speed 3 (which i would wait for about 6 months once it comes out so the bugs will get fixed)

any and all thoughts r welcome

not that much difference between the 2005 evo 8 and the 2006 evo 9. the 03 and 04 evo 8 were different however. in 05, mitsubishi made acd standard equipment and boosted power to 276( the 9 is rated at 286).

If I was spending close to $30, I don't think I would spend new money on any of those cars.

You could easily get a very nice and low miles 996 Carrera or E46 M3 for the same money, and save yourself a sh*$load of depreciation cost.

Out of that list though, I would go for the Evo, a used 8.

^^^^if you are going to go used 911, i would go for the 993 instead of the 996. 996 became more of a luxury coupe, rather than a sports car.

this is true, though still the best 911 in my opinion, is a late 80s car. A true sports car, you really need to know how to drive to be in that car. YOu can pick up a nice condition Coupe for about $13k, or Cabriolet for around $15k, then spend the rest tweaking it a bit.

I got our 87 Cab for about 13, in good mechanical condition, a few paint chips, and a ragged interior, with about 10k, I can tidy up the interior, get the exterior reworked, have the suspension, brakes, and engine tuned, replaced, and rebult, respectivley.

It helps that i know several Porsche guys, who also race SCCA, who are willing to work with me on it.

yeah I would voted sti but, you get yourself in a nice 911 like what matt said above buy one and tweak it. There are more parts around for second gen. porsche 911s than for the svt. and then you get a really cool car that turns more heads.
