want everyones opinion

to everyone, i'd like your opinions. for the past year and a half i have been saving $ for a new car or to push the focus to the limits. me and focaltech have discussed many options and there are a few open choices

1) save the focus and spend the cash to make a all around street/strip/show car. my friend wants to make a simple custom system for the rear. the car needs upgraded brakes and i still want some exterior/interior done. i have 10 grand invested in the car as is. so the set-up i'm looking at is built trans/engine and some boost. and me and focaltech will install everything and get it tuned locally. this would also leave me 2g's of cash to save if needed.

2) i drive about 400 miles a week on average back and forth to work and wherever. i have my 91 topaz that gets about 24mpg that i got for 400 bucks, and since then i've invested about 800 including the head unit/speakers. the car does its job and still runs good, but the harmonic dampener is shot (not expensive) and some little things like a new cowl as it cracked from old age and ice. so i could take the cash, and buy a new commuter and wait 2 years or so for a nice car. sell the focus and buy a cheapy car to toy with for the time.

3) take the topaz and run a v6 3.0 vulcan swap 5 speed and throw boost at it making the ultimate sleeper. but i lose that for a daily driver. though i will have 5g's to do with as i please left over

4) save the cash a little longer and buy a cobra. but if the topaz takes a dive, then that will have to become the daily driver. and i won't have cash for something else or much cash even to mod the cobra...something irresistable to do.

so what do you guys think. everyday these ideas run through my head and just confuse the crap outta me. to the point that i was just gonna start ordering parts.

I can only help so much
1.) Sounds really good and I think if built right it will stay together
2.) NO have fun now!
3.)Never met you but you seem to have some pride in a nice vehicle, I do love sleepers, but a topaz?
4.) Sounds great to me, can you live with the gas milage?, they aren't that bad, but it still isn't 24mpg....and you KNOW you will mod it, but get it first.
So, either 1 or 4 , hope that helps

Cobra is sweet Ed, but remember insurance will just eat you alive. Like I said before, I would love to see the expressions on guys with expensive cars loose to a Focus.

I wouldn't mess with the Topaz unless it is the all-wheel-drive version. The point of a sleeper is to annihilate people, right? AWD would be much more useful out of the hole. I think you should mod the Focus.

ide say save for the cobra while gradually doin some mods on the foci, although the focus will be a noneconomical commuter with all the parts, so then you sell the parts and try to get a couple grand to play around with the cobra.

I say buy a used focus and make it your Sleeper and then make you first focus your show. Then clean up your topaz a little.

By doing this you will maintain cheaper insurance ,have a show car, sleeper, and your daily driver with money left over to do with as you wish.

A cobra would be sweet. But is a V8 for the focus a possibility? I think that would make twice the sleeper the topaz would be.

nah, the v8 for the focus doesn't interest me to the point of doing that swap.
