Never noticed this before...

After looking at both window stickers from our past 2003 ZTW and the 2007 ZXW that we have now, I noticed something that I hadn't read before. Looks like our 2003 mileage wasn't off by as much as I thought.

Was just wondering what other people get for mileage with their Focus wagons with automatic transmissions...we bought a new 2003 ZTW that got anywhere from 19 mpg city to 28 mpg highway in 3 years of driving. It was a great car, not one problem, but the mileage was never there like some others.

The 2007 ZXW we have now has a little over 500 miles on it so far and gets 27 city already. Haven't taken it on the interstate yet, but it already beats out the older wagon for city mpg by quite a bit. 27/34 is the EPA so it should get better.

Anyone else notice this? Quite a spread...

Really? Could you tell that from the stickers where it says engine in the middle under the Focus Wagon listing? Just kidding.

I've always noticed that my MPG varies mostly by how accelerator-happy I tend to get. What part of Iowa are you from padavid?

Cheers!

I recall renting an 05 se sedan with the duratech 2.0 and an automatic. Took it across PA and back (my focus was having body work done at the time). I averaged 35-40 mpg the whole trip (90% highway driving at 75+ mph). My zx3 averages 25-30 mpg in my daily mix of city and highway driving.

Had it not been for how the car felt cheapened from the prior revisions (the cd holder is useless to me and they removed the drawer and storage bin next to the gauge cluster for 05), I would have liked it more.
