Opening bonnet........

Just been looking at the pics of your fine cars on the gallery page, and noticed on an interior picture, that there appears to be an internal bonnet release, is that true?

What other differences are there between US Focus and Euro versions, apart from the large bumpers you have on yours!!

instead of the lock behind the badge in the grill, we just have a safety catch, w/ a little handle like thing on it, you pop the hood (bonnet) from inside the car w/ a release, then you go to the front and lift up on the hood while pushing the little handle so the safety catch is released

All my other cars have been like that, but the Focus was my first car to have the bonnet unlocked by a key, which is a right pain cos you have to switch off the engine, unlock the bonnet then start the engine again if your working on the car.

Ford started it over here on our Transit van in 1998, and they have been using it ever since!!!

i guess that's kind of a nice feature, you know no one can get under your hood. but it does sound like a pain. i guess youcould keep a spare key somewhere so you dont have to kill the engine. i dont know, but i personally like what i have now with the release inside the car. i hope ford doesnt import that feature.

Wow, sounds like a nice feature to have, as Urn stated no one would get under your hood. Although it would get old to me, having to unlock it everytime. Guess having the latch on the inside has got me spoiled. I wonder why Ford did that to the Euro versions?

Well, here in the States, this is a bonnet.

So, I guess to open the bonnet, you would have to first untie it ???
