About Tunes

Ok, I got the exhaust, TB, and the CAI now I guess its time for a X-cal2. A couple questions here. I had a CEL yesterday because my CAI came off because i didnt tighten one of the sleeves enough. Fixed and got CEL to go off.

1. Can I clear the code off?
2. If I go up to 91 octane will I increase MPG?
3. Why do they disable the rear O2 sensor, I thought that helped you get better MPG?
4. How big of a difference will I see with a automatic with this tune? I know they raise the RPM limiter to 7200 does that mean when I put the pedal to the floor it will be shifting at 7200?

Thanks for any replies!

with the tuner you can check and clear codes.

with a tune 91 will be required, it will not help your gas milage. higher octane prevents engine knock when the timing is advanced as in a performance tune.

the downstream o2 reads catalytic converter efficience and sets a mil when the cat goes bad, is plugged, etc. it doesnt do anything with engine perameters.

the performance will differ from tuner to tuner. just because the redline will be 7200 doesnt mean it will shift there. the tuner will also reconfigure shift points at specific rpm's. so it would all depend on the tuner as to whats what. each tuner has his/her own way of tuning and what they think the best is.

the tune will actually add some hp/ tq. how much varies by the one you get the tuner from.
theres no reason to have the fans run all the time other than to keep the radiator temp down, which does nothing for the engine temp. the thermostat controls when coolant flows, not the radiator. leave the fans alone and get a cooler thermostat, aroung 180 for a daily driver if you feel you must run things cooler. just remember, it may help produce power, but your milage will drop slightly.
oh, and some tunes will actually increase milage. know the one i had for my auto did. the 4 mpg increase offset the higher fuel cost..

Ya, thats what i was thinking. If the 4mpg will offset the price.

May not get 4mpg, thats just what i got. dont know about there, but here premium is .05 more than regular. as i said, what happens with gas milage and power will depend on who does the tuning. but most are pretty good.
