Angry Well I was gonna get it but not anymore

I was going to ditch my Ford Racing header for a Focus Sport racing header but that would be pointless after what I read. See, a race header gives you more whp over a shorty header and I was going to go to the drag strip to see what my ET is but after reading this shit RULES FOR STREET NIGHT PROGRAM It would be stupid. Here is a quote from it.

Quote:
It is also the perfect setting for the more experienced enthusiast who would like to test performance modifications.
But they won't let me test the performance of a race header!!

It's nice to have rules but man those suck.

OH WELL, saves me money at least.

Summerduck Drag Strip in VA has a rule that if you have a street driven car which still has to pass emissions, then you cannot run a race header or an exhaust without a cat.

Yea, stupid ass rule I think. Once I read the "No open exhaust allowed" I was pissed.

I have a friend that was banned from a strip because they inspected his car and he had an exhaust mani and cat then when they left he stuck on the race header and raced a race. Tehy came around and found out what he had done and booted him.

I thought their meaning of an open exhaust is a straight pipe, aka, no muffler or resonator. <shrug>

That's not what I read.

"Vehicles must be street legal and able to pass state safety inspection. "

A state safety inspection is not an emmisions inspection and it doesn't say anywhere that you can not run modified exhaust.

Why don't you call the front office at the track and just ask them? You may be surprised by the answer

You are wrong there. It depends on the state. In VA, part of the safety inspection is the visual inspection of the emissions equipment and if it isn't there then you are SOL and not passing the inspection.

OK jisturm,
First, how do you know I'm wrong? Did you do what I asked? Did you call the race track and verify what I said? NO! You didn't.

I did.
And while they didn't give me a concrete answer, they did say that the "inspection" is NOT the State safety/emissions inspection.
The person who can answer this question definitively is Joe Lambrado. He can be reached at the track on Monday at (603) 679-8001.
Why don't you call them on Monday and prove me wrong instead of just speculating .
Thanks,
Kat's5
