Question Special feeling in the focus?

I went to the used car dealership up the sreet cause I saw a used 2003 Subaru WRX when i passed by this morning. I was talking with the salesman about it and told him I had a thing for rally heiratige(sp?) cars. He let me take it for a test drive with him so i could just see how it felt.

And to be honest....I wasnt that impressed with the handling with it.

I mean, the speed boost in the straightaways was a blast, but we went to a small peice of road that I go on the focus all the time when i wanna screw around a lil bit, he said just dont do anything serious. The corners werent really bad, but the sign said 15 recommended speed, and I usually took them at around 30-35 in the focus (almost lost it when a car was coming the other way one time). I took the corners the same way I would in the focus, and it actually felt harder to keep it handled in the turn, I didnt wreck or hit anything or slide out or anything like that, it just felt.....more difficult to keep the car under control in the WRX than the focus.

I dunno what it is, anyone else have any input on something like this?

Its not cause the WRX was stick and my focus is auto, I have been driving stick for longer than Auto and my old stick was a FWD car.

it may be that you are just not used to the feeling of an all wheel drive car.

I figured a AWD would be easier to control on the corners.

Both cars have very different handling characteristics; personally I think the WRX has a bit too much body roll from the factory, but they can be made to handle extremely well with some minor mods (as can the Focus). I sell em for a living and I have to agree with bigjordan...the Potenzas Subaru installs on the Imprezas suck, then again I think the P6s that were on my ST sucked too.

stock for stock i wouldnt think that the focus could outperform a wrx in the twisties. the subaru just requires a different driving style that you are probably not used to.
