" Lock Those Doors!

CLOSED doors allow crumple zones to function properly during a crash.

LOCKED doors help the doors stay closed so the crumple zones can work.
This is NOT to prevent a car-jacking. Rather, modern vehicles are designed to handle a crash with the doors SHUT. The California Highway Patrol has demonstrated that locking the doors makes them less likely to come open in an accident. The vehicle will better-maintain its structural integrity, and there will be more "room to live" inside.
Don't worry about being locked inside the vehicle in the event of a fire or water impact. Though such incidents do occur, they are remote possibilities at best."

Just thought you'd like to know locked doors are a good thing

^hmmm... makes sense and i always wondered why they lock automatically. i just thought that they locked automatically because if you lived in a bad area, you wouldn't have to worry about someone pulling you out of your car at a red light and jacking your car, lol.

there is a thread stickied about how to disable the autolocking feature.

Yeah it also tells you how to disable this feature in the owners manual. I was thinking of getting rid of it simply because i was sick on the locking noise every time i started out my car. I guess i wont now, safety is a little more important than my griping over a locking noise.

In my old car I had to always lock the doors. When I got the focus an heard the auto lock, I thought it was cool cuz now I don't have to worry bout looking the doors. The safety issue makes sense as well.
