Is A 2000 Ford Focus SE is good choice for a new driver?
I am getting my license in 3 weeks and almost bought a 2000 Ford Focus SE with 22k miles for $5000. It is a stick-shift so my dad had to test drive it but it seemed quick enough and nice to me. I just figured i should as if there are any problems with them or anything plus my mechanic says they are very expensive to fix (clutch $800???). Just figured to get some advice from people who know stuff about their cars.

The Focus is an awesome car. As for expense with repairs, as with any car, some things are more expensive than others to fix. The cars are very easy to work on. I would say get it but also haggle some.

It should be an awesome beginner car, just make sure that it has had all the recalls done on it, and you'll be set to go. [thumb] [thumb]

to fix a domestic car is almost always cheaper than an import. besides, focus has great crash test ratings. It would be a perfect car for a new driver.. hell.. I have been driving for 26 yrs and it is good enough for me!

No 2000s. They have all the problems and consumer reports also say the same 2001 one and on are the best choices!

don't listen to propilot. once the recalls are done, it is just as reliable as any other focus. consumer reports is a bunch of japanese guys telling you what they think are the good cars. they don't know more than anyone else. every car i have owned (a lot!!) consumer reports listed all kind of problems.. i never had one of there listed problems. for the price, you can't beat the focus

I got a 2000 Ford Focus SE. I love it!! [:D] Gots the ZETEC engine in it. Wouldn't want it any other way.

obviously were gonna say the focus is an awesome car, its a little biased car, but i heard the earlier models of the north american spec. focus had the most recalls for any one car ever, so it couldve been problematic, but recalls are free to fix so wtf

All cars are exspensive to fix. The Focus is a great car. Haven't had any problems with mine. It's quick, but also gets good gas milage. I would definatly recommend the car.
