Volvo T-5 In 03 SVT??

Late last night in my garage in the middle of my SVT turbo motor build, I had a thought...

Why the hell couldn't I find a nice T-5 Volvo motor, mod it and drop it into my car.... I've not even begun the search for said motor, nor have I considered anything in relation to the motor mounts, transmission or any other obstacles that I will definitely face when putting the motor into the car if I go down this road, BUT the idea is still intriguing!

If I remember correctly Volvo cars have quite a backround in the BTCC series although I am not certain if they utilize turbo power for these cars. (Igor, for some reason I think you will have the answer here)

What I want to know is:

1. Has anyone else considered this?

2. Does anyone know of tuning options for this engine? (I would ASSUME a re-flash setup would be available, but we know what assumptions can do)

3. Anyone know where I could acquire such a motor?

Just a thought.

www.evolve.com

Aftermarket Volvo Company that does reflash the computer so there are options. I've been looking into buying a Volvo S40 T-5 for a while now so I do know about them.

As for the motor, might be hard to find one in good shape, probably an accident pull though some insurance thing. The cars are so new that it will be hard to find a transplant possibly.

I believe the new MK2 focus in the UK is using the VOLVO platform so it might not be as 'impossible' as a person might think.

Definitely a cool idea, very cool.... the cost though will be mighty....

You know, after seeing the evolve website I am thinking I might trade in my S4.... the volvo is cheaper and has better tuning potential (at least for what I'd like to spend)

2004 Audi S4 Quattro

Black on Black on 19" black. Nearly every option.

I am a super nerd about my batmobile she is the garage queen, so much so that my focus sleeps outside.

A4's are nice cars, but don't buy one expecting a ton of power. Hence the reason for the S4/RS4. For daily driving and tuning fun go w/ the volvo, poking around today I've seen many more tuning options available and for A LOT less cash.

The only other car I would trade it for is the RS4. IF I can find one for less than 70k which is highly unlikely. All of the cars handle well, are well maintained etc... just the lack of power on the lower end models is alarming. I guess Audi/vw thinks that if you want a luxury car it should be a slow pig. The only exceptions in that german stable are the Porsche/Buggati/Ruf cars.
