Giving up Focus modding for a Volvo

Well, to make a long story short (if I can do that) I got an 87 Volvo 240 this weekend. I needed a safe and easy to drive car for my fiancee so I wouldn't be worried about her being hit by some SUV. The car is sitting in a friend's junkyard with the only issues being that the driver's interior trim & window regulator have been removed (found in the trunk, bolts??), needs tires, needs radio, and I'll have to transplant plastic from 4 tail lights to make two good tail lights.

The bummer is, I think this is the end of my Focus modding for the meantime

So does anyone know anything about these cars or has some advice that might be helpful? It's an auto with the electronic fuel injectors, runs, some minor oil seepage/ leaks around the timing cover and valve cover. I'm considering doing a full gasket/ seal job and replacing the tranny filter.

I know, I need an exhaust for the Focus.

No modding on the Volvo, just keep it in running condition. Although, depending on the horn wiring, it will probably get an F-150 horn, and most likely a loud exhaust too. Like the bikers say- loud pipes save lives!!

Oh, BTW, the car was free to me, title and all. I do a lot of favors for these people.

my friend had one
Very safe cars survived two minor accidents and saved his life in a major accident

walmart sewer hose and kn cone filter make a great intake
problems
catalytic converters tend to go bad with them around this time of its life
water pump problems
heater core is a b****** to replace
blower fan need to be replaced
only has two speakers total(one in each front door. The stock volvo radio didn't have an amp in it so there is an amp in the driver side wiring harness so with an aftermarket radio be very careful wiring it.
Rear wheel drive can be both bad and good
very brittle interior
freaking analog clock in the dash
if it is a turbo volvo $200 says the turbo is coked up
timing belt and serpentine belt will need changing
you will need new brakes
get a bunch of european fuses(the old style ones)
Radiator leaks are common do your self a favor when it leaks replace all the hoses at once.
pm me with any questions I spent hundreds of hours working on my friends.
