I wonder what percentage of every GM vehicle purchase goes to pay for some dude to experience wood again?

it is not even unions.. it is the stupid workers who get it and sell it and pack their pockets.

it is ridiculous and it is sad, but it is true

While that may be true... had it not been for the Union it would not be available for the workers.

Guess your laughing at Ford as well Magic2119

Some ppl on the board may take offense..

cuz Ford declining to answer the question means they are paying out the ass for the drugs as well...

let's not make this a union debate, please!
and ford and chrysler are pretty smart for not mentioning those numbers. i don't think gm's going to get any sympathy from the general public for releasing such an abscure and stupid story. they want you (the general public)to feel bad for them so that when they layoff 100,000 people there wouln't be as many complaints. we have a plant here in pittsburgh due to close from the last round of layoffs and buyouts.

by the way if ford would have released the info the title would have been " THE DECLINE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY"

Ford probably is doing the same if not worse. But to quote The Vapors, " I think I'm turning Japanese " with my next vehicle purchases anyway. American people tend to abuse healthcare coverage to an extent that it should be criminal. To be spending that kind of cash on erectile dysfunctions and medicine that is widely sought out by perfectly healthy people in order to enhance their lives when no justifiable dysfunction exist is indicitive, IMO.

I've had the same employer for over 13 years and have used the free to me healthcare system zero times yet I see those around me using it from 1 to 5 times a week.

I don't mind spending money at all in fact I love doing it but I do get a little ticked when I see something that I have contributed to be pissed away. Perfect examples being the CEO from Exxon and his $400 million gift or this story about GM.

Hello non-union Japanese motor companies

There is nothign to debate.. Had the union not required this in their contract it would not be there... because it is in the agreement ppl are abusing it...
those are both FACT.
As for why GM made it public.. this could be to make the public feel sorry for them and buy their vehicle.. but i Highly doubt that they are pointing fingers back at the union had this not been a requirement by the union then the problem would not be there...\

And LastRites I agree tho its hard... as i need a Midsize SUV and to be honest... Except for Nissan I dotn care for any of the Japanese SUV's... and Nissan Charges a premium for their SUV's... as for a car its not gonna be a domestic designed car and prolly not owned by a domestic manufacturer.. tho the focus prolly be around for millions of mile so no new daily driver is seen...
