need advice, im pissed off

so, i get a phone call, while im at my buddys house tonight, from my mom. she ws pissed too. i guess one of the people that live close by was waiting for her when she got home. heres the story as i understand it:

my mom: "i pulled up to the house, and there was a guy in a red truck, on our sidewalk looking at our house. i pulled the car in the driveway, and rolled down the window, and asked if i could help him, and he asked if my son drives a yellow volkswagon. i said my son drives a yellow focus"

after that, i dont know exactly what was said, but he claims i drive too fast down our street. the street is a 25, and i do 30. never gone any faster than 30, cauz kids and shit play there. so he then tells my mom that he doesnt want to see me driving that fast down the street anymore, because he has two kids, and he thinks that i drive too fast. he also stated that he works with the village of addison(town i live in) and that if he sees me driving that "fast" he will call the police and file a complaint.

so, what should i do? this crazy guy was waiting outside of my house... filing a police report is useless, my mom wont do that(dont ask)

so other than idiling down the road......what do you guys think?

i think the problem stems outside of doing 25, 5 mph isnt that much, and i see people all the time barreling down the street. its a small street, no cops, or anything. people are asses down this road, i always drive 5 above...

Well, I guess you can't blame a father for being protective? How was his demeanor?

What kind of street is this? If it's in a nieghboorhood, I'd probably have to agree with him, sorry. I do 25 max down my street, usually 20.

However, he probably could have found a better, and nicer way to confront ya'll.

oh, and yes, agreed on the protective father part, but why the hell would his kids be playing in the street anyway? and if then need to go into the street, a GOOD father would teach them to look both ways, and then look again

No, but 30 in a nieghboorhood is pushing it.

Plus, what seems slow to you will seem faster to him because he hears more of the tire noise than you do.

I used to think one of my nieghboors flew down our street untill I road with him one day. Turns out he was doing alot slower than I thought. I guess it's all mental.

What? Your parents never told you to go play in the street?

30 in a 25 isn't fast but some people have no perception of speed either. My advice would be to do 20 or 25 and if he has a problem with it you're doing all you can do. I dunno if I would approach him about it, he sounds awful touchy. If the speed limit is 25 and you're doing 25 or under, what else can you do? You're legal...

i would keep doin what your doin, if he wants to get the cops involved he can, no cop could ever give you a ticket for a speed someone else thought you were going. ontop of that maybe the cops might sit on your street and bust some people acutally speeding. be real its chicago people SPEED.
