Questions about RPM's

I have a questions about my RPM. What is unsafe when Reving your engine. My focus is stock right now and I bring it to 6.5 all the time. Is this bad for my engine? If not what is considered bad for my engine? Thanks for any response.

It can be hard on the bottom end if you shift above 5k all the time, it also tends to use up oil at a faster rate than normal. You're looking at wearing out internal engine parts much sooner than you would if you shifted more conservatively and only beat on the engine every once in a while.

Most of the time I shift around 5-5.5k rpms. Except when I'm in first and thats only when I'm racing.

I don't watch the tach at all...I go by the speed. At about 20mph I change from 1st to 2nd gear, around 30mph i go to 3rd gear and from then on, I pretty much listen to the engine and try to please it...

Well, I lied. I do watch tach from time to time...but only when I'm going from 2nd to 3rd...

I'm not much of a racer, and it just kills me when I make my vehicle work (ie. fast acceleration, lots of gas etc..). Today I shifted as fast as possible, and I could feel that some parts really got a workout...but as soon as I decelerated and returned to normal driving thoughts race in my head "Ohh you shouldn't have done that. Poor car...you're gona break it much faster.." etc...It's as almost the car is part of me...my child...

Dammit...when I think of the stuff I've done to it today, it makes me want to hang my self.

I'm so sorry Focus...I'm so sorry...
