Caliber SUV.. ehm.. the Patriot...released

http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/top/jee...cuv-166038.php

Jeep released production relady PAtriot pics.. it will have the Cliaber R/T's 2.4 with 5speed or CVT.

DCX must be smoking some serious something... at the times when Ford ad GM are trying - or are being pushed to - reduce badge engineering, DCX is just pouring them out ... Aspen/Durango/Commander (Grand Cherokee/ML350).. Compas/Patriot/Caliber ..
...

BTW it was announced a couple weeks ago that ALL of DCX market share increase over past 5 years has been FLEET they have been completely flat on retail (which is obviously still better than Ford or GM)... and their Commander is already selling only with huge incentives.

Can't find the sales article.. here is the link on commander:

Funny thing is, I actually kind of like the Patriot. Proof that styling can make all the difference. Under the skin it's the same as the Caliber, but I can't stand the look of the Caliber AT ALL. This looks like what would happen if you blended the old Cherokee with a Liberty, and made it 3/4 scale. I like it, but I'm guessing most people here won't find much to say about the thing.

^^^I like it the best of the trio... definitely... the Caliber is second and the ugly duckling of Compass is just plain ugly...

I jus think people will notice the interior is identical.. and not like it ...

I think DCX is on thin ice but they are too busy rocking out to Metallica.. jumping up and down thinking how great they are....they remind me of the rest of Big 2 in the 80s or so..

So does the Patriot replace the Liberty or is this just a tiny Jeep station wagon? I'm guessing no Rubicon trail running in this one.

"Trail rated" is a joke. Not sure how it applies to other models but for the Grand Cherokees it is usually put on the lower end models that are actually the least capable for off-road driving. Case in point, our friend has an 05 Grand Cherokee Rocky Mtn. edition that is "trail rated", and it just has the base level 4x4 system paired with the anemic 3.7 V-6. Just another clever marketing ploy by DCX to go along with their "hemi" campaign.

So is this thing 4x4? If so it has potential, being small and kinda light. I havent been in a new jeep for a while (test drove a commander a few months ago- if i had that kind of money my focus would be gone, hehe).

I like the looks of that thing a lot better than the Liberty. And well, I really like the Caliber, especially in Yellow. Granted I wish they offered the 5 speed in some of the larger motors.
