Just curious.

It was raining here today, and I decided that I wanted to try a really nice burn out. I revved up to about 5000rpm and dumped the clutch. The wheels spun off right away, but I heard a really loud CLUNK right as the power hit the wheels. I don't think it was tranny related. I heard the same thing one other time when I accidentally downshifted into second rather than fourth right after I got the car. I was just wondering if any of you have had a similar noise, or if you know what it is. Thanks.

why would you want to do that anyways? you will eventually break something doing that kind of thing. the car isn't ment for that kind of abuse

Yes, I'm young (19), but from what I've seen, age isn't always an indicator of driving skill/craziness. I've seen guys more than twice my age thrash cars more than I ever do or will. All I wanted to do was a burnout, but I was always to chicken shyt to do it when dry because I figured that would do more damage. I don't think that saying "NEVER BUY A USED CAR OFF A YOUNGIN'!", is a fair statement. I take excellent care of my car, as do all of my friends in my age group. Furthermore, if I was selling my car, and they asked about my driving habbits, I would respond honestly, and let them make their own decision.

well to be honest... when I was 19, I had a restored 1972 ranchero GT with a 351 cobra jet and a 4 speed. That thing would burn out like no ones business. But then, rear wheel drive burnouts are different than front wheel drive burnouts.. almost cool.

I had a '78 Ford Fiesta that I could put in reverse, turn the wheel all the way to the left, drop the clutch and do a perfect reverse donut. That car would spin in an almost perfect circle until I let off the gas. The last time I did it the axles fell out from under the car. There wasn't anything broke but the bolts holding the cv joints together had backed out and fallen off. I would never even think of doing that to any car I've owned since then. It was definately cool while it lasted though.

Hahaha...that's awesome Bill.

Come on everyone...you all know that sometimes the urge to do a burnout cannot be suppressed.

I personally like it when it's dry though...more noise. Plus in the rain I can spin the wheels reving at 3000 rpm....no need to jack the thing up to 5K.
