Awesome Zetec motor deal!!! unfortunately I'm broke

I went to a junkyard today and lo and behold there was a wrecked Black 2003 ZX5 sitting right by the entrance. Aside from being smashed on the passenger side, cracked windshield, and not very well taken care of interior, the motor itself seemed pretty good. The lady there told me she'd sell the motor (Zetec, auto tranny) for 500 bucks (Really I kid you not!!!). Unfortunately i'm too broke to undertake this kinda project right now. But then again....

Anyways, I don't like my SPI motor sometimes. It's good for driving around, that I admire, but I hate the way it takes 3000 rpms to "kick in". If not the motor, I'll probably go back to the junkyard this weekend and strip out all the wiring and motors for the power locks/windows etc., and put em on my car hehe. She offered 40 bucks for all of that!!!!

Just wanted to share my little experience from today. BTW I live in Hawaii so, like getting an engine from the mainland is too damn hard and expensive. Hopefully there aren't any other SPI'ers out here in the middle of the ocean also looking for that Zetec swap. I just hope that black ZX5 will be stuck in the junkyard for a while.

um, if you have all the parts from that car, you might actually want to consider it, but then again 20 hp is that worth it, plus the SPI suposedly is taking turbocharging alot better than the zetecs

I only paid ~$250 for my Zetec. $500 is'nt really a unbelivable deal.

If you hate having to wait till 3000 RPM's, then your really not gonna like having to wait for 5000 RPM's to come around.

the swa will end up costin more than a good turbo set up...
and remember you will be paying 500$ + the instalation (maybe another 500$)
for only 20 hp...
