Defected to Mazda

In the desire to make my focus fast I realized, that the focus wasnt made to go fast. At least mine wasnt. I have a zetec engine with over 110,000 miles and pretty much anything short of FI and I will still be slower than any duratec. And with FI I might run into some reliability issues. So I decided to buy a 93 Mazda RX7 touring. I was told the car was pushing near 300hp to the rear wheels. I am hopefully taking her to the dyno tomorrow and I will post the numbers as well as pics of the car. The focus is still my daily driver and I shall not neglect it, but the "7" is so much fun to drive. Tomorrow I will post all mods and pictures, and hopefully a few dyno runs.

The older RX models seem to have a better reputation than the current RX8.

At most forums, people associate RX8 with oil loss.

Do your homework and get a good year RX something.

FD3S = Tons of $$ in repairs
FC3S = Far, FAR less spent and as much or more speed with a little tuning
RX-8 = Less maintenance than all of them.

I hit up the dyno today and here is what I got, 292hp 240 lb-ft torque. That is pretty much what I was told I would be hitting. I will get her to the dyno again after I can find someone to tune the car for me. Does anyone know of anyone in Virginia that tunes the RX7?

I hope you realize that as long as you've kept up with the maintainence and everything on the focus with a CAI, Header, Hi-Flow Cat, Flex, Cat-back, you'd be able to take on some duratecs. If you're an Auto, add a chip to that and you'd be just about in the same place.

With slightly more things, then you'd be able to do better. But Speed is just a matter of money, how fast do you want to go?
