Uh, yeah. Don't worry Ford won't do anything about it, they will continue on with their vanilla cars as usual. Oh I really hope they plan on proving me wrong though, please?

#2 Ford doesn't need to worry about that.

That thing is going to tank after MS3 is released the SRT4 forums are buzzing with disbelief that they love hte Mazdaspeed3 much more than the SRT4...

#3
Even if it doesn't tank, I rather Ford focus on bringing out a good Focus in 2008 than try to play with the GM and DCX idiots on their sandpit... especially GM..

There is no point making a POS car like a Cobalt into a fast POS car it will still not generate any profit. DCX is profitble.. they can experiment.. and Caliber is good experiment... but Ford and GM have bigger fish to fry... it's called building good cars and mking profit off of them... only then shouldd they focus on making the insanely fast...

OH BTW if you had the choice.. would you rather have a honking engine dropped intothe current focus, or have the money invested for a brand new competitive Focus ....
That is the tradeoff Ford would have on their plate.

Irather see #2... but that might just be me.

Thinkin' Ford doesn't factor in much of the dropping a honking engine in a currently owned car thing when planning a new model.

Also, performance cars are typicaly not profitable, they simply serve as image or marketing platforms.

Unfortunately, it's the plain janes that make up the bulk of car sales (i.e. Camry). Enthusiasts see things a little differently, but the soccer moms will always have the last say.

I'd rather do #1. My car looks good and is styled in such a way that I can live with for years to come. Over styled cars tend to look goofy pretty quick. It handles great, has a solid build quality, and has great modding potential.

I'll be keeping the one I have.

BTW Ford has good options when it comes to engines for most of their cars..plus their new engines are well designes... e.g. see the Duratec Turbo from Mazda and the D35 - that one was also designed to take FI from ground up... I would not be surprised to see Turbo or SC Fusion and Edge is they sell well.. or can you say SVT Zephyr

I understand you point and we very much agree bigbudchugger... IMO it is really just the simple: you need a good car to make it better by sport treatment... Mustang is a god car... but there is nothing else that is proven at this point... But if Fusion etc and Edge etc sell well... I can totally se them getting the sports package...
