This is fun !!!!!! Go try it !!!

I was bored coming home today and noticed that annoying little shift light in my car. I have been ignoring it for about two years ! . Anyway, try this one the next time you drive your focus if you haven't already.

The next time you are on a flat grade with no traffic behind you. Apply just about 1/8 to 1/4 throttle and actually shift when the shift light comes on... It is insane, the car has you in fifth gear lugging along at about 28 MPH. GREAT power , too.. I really wondered who engineered that little piece of genius.

Anyway, go out and try it ( sorry automatic tranny guys ) and report back on the fun and excitement.

I've actually do it a lot. I don't know why, I just see the arrow and I shift lol. I usually end up downshifting soon after upshifting.

I thought the shift light was "engineered" for best mileage or something like that. But I also heard it kinda trains itself based on the way it's been driven. Perhaps that's fiction though?

I'm think thats gotta be fiction cuz i usually shift between 2500-3000, kinda high i guess but its fun and it sounds good. The shft line does come on for best mileage I believe. Anyhow the funny part about all this is that in the owners manual tells you the correct shift points to use and they definately don't match the shift light...go figure!

mine seems to change depending on how im driving at the time, with light accelerator pressure, it will tell you to shift sooner, thats why at only 1\8th throttle you end up at 30 in fifth, if you accelerate more aggressivly the light will come on later, so it really just depends on how you drive, try giving it more gas when the light comes on and it will go right back off.
