Thumbs up Saw This SUV Concept on Mtn.

I took a four day weekend to go drive about and snowboard and while I was at Copper Mtn this saturday, I came upon a Suzuki tent with this concept SUV parked in front of it. Thought it was pretty damn slick. Its basically a tricked out Grand Vitara with flared wheel-wells, wider tires, nicer stance and a grip of other cool things listed below.

Couldnt get a full on profile of this thing cause it was crowded in by some other reps and their tents...the bastards. So I will rob one from someone elses site...the rest are from my camera phone.

Some of the 'Blizzard' Grand Vitara features include:

2.7-liter turbo charged Suzuki engine

Custom rack system with backlit board mounts

Roof rack camera for snow equipment

Studded snow tires (on vehicle or spare)

Lot lift (rear gate, chair lift style seat for taking gear on and off)

Built-in glove and boot warmers

Internet access to check snow conditions

Interior color/materials scheme from snowboard equipment

Ventilated wet gear storage (located in back cargo area)

Dockable iPodô station in rear area

In-car video and gaming system

I don't care for the odd placement of the lights in the front bumper, and the choice of colors and textures in the interior is bizarre (IMO) but otherwise it does look pretty cool. I've never had much interest in SUVs in general and Suzuki SUVs in particular, but this new Grand Vitara is actually pretty nice. It went from being a boring little yawnmobile to actually having a nice aggressive look to it (even the stock production model), and the production model has a ton of nice features at a very competitive price. If they built a version like this show truck with a turbo engine, that would be an interesting ride.

^^ actually I have seen a few pics of one with a 2.7 turbo, I believe.

I too havent been much a fan of the SUV thang, but this ride just caught my eye for some reason. I think it was that aggressive look you spoke of and the interior was kinda interesting, albeit a little on the edge.

I didnt get a pick of the rear, but it has a seat that folds out off the storage area, where you can sit and get geared up...complete with cup holders in the back door.

As far as being a Suzuki...I just remember seeing some old Samuri's doing some crazy wheelin' in my day. Those things were beasts.

Even the regular Grand Vitara with the V6 is a nice ride. What surprised me most was when I found out how much equipment it comes with for a very reasonable price. If I were going to get an SUV it would probably be something in the small to medium-sized category, like this one (even though these are the "cute-utes" that are supposed to appeal to girls). The Suzuki at least has some actual off-road credibility compared to something like a Honda CRV.
