NASCAR is going to hell

So I'm sitting here watching the Daytona 500. Anyone else notice how restrictor plate racing is detrimental to the sport? I can understand NASCAR's thinking behind this, but now all the cars run in a cluster. So when one driver hits a wall or is too aggressive with the bump drafting, that cluster becomes a cluster******.

Also, I say BOO to Toyota entering as a manufacturer. I have nothing against Toyotas and Nissans (Honda is a different story) but they have no place in NASCAR. I say within 10 years it's going to be all imports. And that sucks. NASCAR is an American sport, from and for us Good Ol' Boys.

Just ranting. Anyone with me on this?

I think adding in some new blood to the sport (refering to Toyota) it will make the US teams step up their game or get the hell out. If they are worried about a little compition they dont belong there to begin with.

^^

I couldn't agree more.

I found it VERY funny when one Nascar driver TRIED to drive in a GT race. He trashed the Vette he was driving on the 3rd turn I think. Priceless.

^^I never heard about that one....I would love to watch a REAL car race, one with normal cars-not sheet metal bodies, and actual turns...

I agree with you. Toyota does not belong in NASCAR, and neither does any car manufacturer that makes good cars.

NASCAR is an exclusivly American sport. Toyota has no business in it.

Not really much of a NASCAR fan here, but it is entertaining to watch them on a road course like Sears Point (Infineon Raceway) and see how they fare.

I don't see anything wrong with allowing competing car manufacturers like Toyota to participate. What I dislike about NASCAR is how far removed it is from its original form of racing stock (or close to it) cars. For about 3 or 4 decades now it's just been purpose-built race cars with a exterior shell that somewhat resembles the "car" it's supposed to be.

So, because baseball is an American sport (invented here) should we allow Japanese players to play? That's all it really is, right? Toyota is a new player in the NASCAR game, should we discriminate against them because they are not American?

actually, are the cars chevy, ford, or dodge, anyways? nope, their hand built, tube framed, and the motors are so far from anything stock its not funny. if i remember right, the only thing that has to be done to claim a brand is 2 pieces of factory sheetmetal.
whatever happened to a true stockcar? ya know, where the car is a factory build with a rollcage and some other mods.
dont see a problem with toyota dropping in, since its not going to be a true toyota anyways, just like the rest of the cars.
