Talking Another car added to the stable

Well my father in law has been talking for years about getting a BMW convertible and now he is able to afford one pretty easily so he needed to unload a car off his lot. He just gave me a 1990 Mustang Convertible (25th anniversary edition)....the downside it is 2.3L 4 banger with over 150,000 miles on her. I previously owned a 1987 Mustang 2.3L and can tell you that these engines leave a lot to be desired. You can beat the hell out of them though . Anyways He just had the car repainted 4 years ago and the interior completly redone at the same time so it looks really good on the outside. Needless to say it is gonna be my project so a 5.0 is a must to go in this boy since I have never been lucky enough to have a V8 stang yet. Well I am happy to have a car just given to me . I will have pics up as soon as I get her...which could be a couple months till he finds the beamer he wants.

^^^well unless he plans on getting 6 series convertable or a Z4 or a previous generation 3 series then hes going to have to wait a good amount of time, i assume hes waiting for a new style 3 series convertable, which i still havent heard anything about, or even a coupe version. I suspect bmw will be releasing both by the end of the year, if not earlier

He is looking at getting a pre owned 330ci with 5 speed. He has found one already and he test drove a couple....really all he has to do is find out who will give him the best rate so it could be very soon but if it falls through it could be a couple months possibly. Needless to say I can't wait to get my hands dirty on this bad boy.

Sounds like a nice car... I know what you mean about the engines, wow so gutless but I beat the hell out of the 88 I had with one in it.. Still runs! lol

5.0 swap would be cool.... then again a 2.3 turbo swap would be too! ... But even cooler... a 4.6 4v swap! But that is likely way more work then you would want to do!

Either way, if you need any pointers feel free to ask. If I dont know I can point you in a way to find out the answer!

I have heard a lot of people prefer the 2.3 turbo swap because it is easier but I already have a turboed 4 so I want to go a different route...even if it is harder. I had a 98 V6 after the 87 4 banger so I have never tasted the V8 yet so that is my next step. I am lucky because CJ Pony parts is right up the road from me so that provides me with a lot of parts in less then 10 minutes . I appreciate the help and I am sure I will need it at some point. I am glad to be back in the Ford family again.

That was my first thought since it's already set up for that four cylinder engine... but V8s are cool too! I still love the sound of a nice 5.0. Sounds like fun, hope your wife is an understanding woman.
