Smile New SVT

So I own a 01 focus street edition with 68k miles on it. I just got a Silver 03 SVT in my dealership with about 40k miles on it. Im thinking (more like already decided) to trade my old one in for the new one. Im trying to buy a car at my dealership before I move to florida with less miles, but I wanna know what SVT owners have to say about their car so I can make a final decision. any suggestions?

opinions will vary very much. IMO, i wouldnt. i have been to the stealership about 5 times for warranty work. and i have had my car a mere 6 months. there are just soo many bugs in these cars that wouldnt suggest anyone buying one. it is a fun car to drive though. the motor has been replaced in my car. some guys have had the same. some have had trannys replaced. everyone needs a clutch assembly replacement from original. the ECU reflash is a must. i have a 04 mustang and that car has been to the stealership 1 time!!!! and that was for trunklid alignment. the car you drive should be in YOUR driveway, not the service lanes'

my $0.02

I have had my car for over 6 months, NO problems 13,300miles, beat it pretty good sometimes, only gripe....stock motor mount is not stiff enough.....100 bucks and you are good with a VF mount.....

Thumbs up SVT

can't say much about that dealership. but mine localy have been good to me, and the car. i just love it, and it keeps getting better. there some things you will want to do ASAP to really make it shine and drive better. i found out that a ECU tune, the VF rear mount and a STS/short throw shifter. these are great starting mods. i have been lucky and car has been in shop only once for recent exhaust bracket cracked. other than that it's been great.

Well its nice that Ive been working at my dealership for 2 years and I can tell when they try to cheat me which is still kind of mean. but hey it happens. they sad it needs new tires (it doesnt) new brakes, which it might actually need. and then they said the car wont pass inspection because of the exhaust. but come to find out a guy at my work has an svt and he just wants the exhaust off of it so hes trying to use every excuse to get it. i love dealerships.

Midway through 2003 a 5/100k powertrain warranty was added. IT goes by when the car was originally purchased.

Since mine has has the #3 piston come apart twice now, I am quite glad I have the powertrain.

I have nothing but good things to say about my '04. I've got close to 45,000 miles, and they have been absolutely trouble free. I've autocrossed my car, and have made 20+ runs on the drag strip. I drive my car hard, but carefully.

It's clear that there are cars like mine out there, and then there are cars that have had a lot of problems. The choice to buy is yours.

I will tell you there isn't a single drive I make that I don't appreciate my car (ok, I love my car).

I have had basic warranty work done on mine (Clutch, HU, ECU Reflash)...since then I have replaced my Valve Cover gasket, removed my heat shield (vibrating), and replaced a bad o-ring on the Aluminum Plug in the Thermo Housing...

I freaking love my SVTf, I test drove a reg ZX3 first and then hopped into the SVT in the same day and it was two totally different vehicles...the suspension, engine upgrade, and tranny alone are wonderfully significant in comparison to the stocker ZX3. And mods are relatively cheap!

If you can find a nice dealer to honor your warranty, do so... how much are they asking for the SVT?

they own it for like 9 so including tax and everything the car should be about 10k for me since i work there. and then minus my trade in or if I decided to privately sell my car which seems to be the smarter thing. 4k-5k for a trade in or sell it for 5700
