and it begines... MSN Has a "first drive" of the 07 Camry and a blurb about the Tundra from the chicago show...

Tundra:

Camry:

For Comparison Edmunds takes on the same cars:

Camry:

Two groups that will never get a fair shake in the mainstream media - domestic auto manufacturers and republicans.

I will never defend the republicans - they dig their own hole ... and if I could vote I would be a democrat...

.. but on domestic automakers I will agree...

Ouch man, let's keep unimportant and trivial matters like political views away from what we know really matters: cars.

Toyota is definitely using Ford as a target in their design - you could even see that in the first-gen Tundra.

People who buy big trucks, namely the working folks in flyover states, would rather remove necessary parts of their body before buying a toyota pickup. I'm going to enjoy watching this huge investment by toyota crash and burn.

I have to disagee. I grew up in Detroit. When I moved here to TN, I was totally shocked how many Jap trucks are running around the south. The factory I work at is a great sample.

The big three don't get a fair shake in the media? Huh?!?!

The most recent example of pro-big 3 bias is the Pontiac Solstice. This car is competitive only against the first Mazda Miata, but I think Edmunds said that it compared equally to the latest Miata. I've even heard of some magazines rating it higher than the Miata. Now that's bias!

Another case is the first generation Neon. That car was a piece, but reported as "the return" of the US passenger car industry. Opps.

In fact, I stayed away from the Focus at first because of this consistent bias of over-rating cars. I guess that because the Focus was developed for Ford Europe, it was a decent car, because Ford US still struggles to make a decent car.

On a side note, a Quebec TV show recently rated the Cobalt SS above the Acura RSX in a comparison test. I agreed with it too, since the SS out-stoped, out-cornered and out-accelerated the Acura at thousands less. Good job US automakes!
