need some advice

everytime i get into my car alot, and i want to do some mods and have some fun with it, my dad tries to convince me that its not worth it and that i should wait until im older and buy a corvette. And i dont even like corvettes and on top of that i like sport compact cars and cars that didnt start out super fast. I want turn my car into my own personal speed machine and everytime i talk about he crushes my ambition with some dumb talk about how its not worth it

what should i do

Thanks
Mike

You should stop letting him crush your hopes and dreams. Only YOU know what you like. if you don't like Vettes, then don't get one. You are not living on this planet for your dad. You're living for you.

Then kick him in the balls, and say "Even a Vette's speed couldn't save you from that"

its your car, and its your money. i just bought mine 4 months ago, and the only things i have done to it so far are the foglight mod, shorty antenna mad, a cold air intake(that my boss bought for me..woot) and under dash pulsing neons. parents are just looking out for whats best for you, and im not gonna go all crazy on your dad or anything. if you have the money, id start off with a cold air intake, exhaust, and an ecu tune. in my situation, my dad doesnt care what i do to it, but i have to spend the money, and i have a lot of other things to pay for right now, otherwise, mine would be crazy. its always cool to have a sleeper that can blow the minds of some of the guys cruzin with 3x more expensive cars than us. i say go for it, its worth it! good luck!

Anybody can buy a Corvette. But you sound like someone with some imagination, ambition- passion, even.

My dad and I never had much in common, I made a lot of choices that he thought were wrong at the time. Chose a career he thought I'd get killed doing, etc. He's 86 now, and just a few months back, we were talking about the old times, and he just said as a quick aside, "ya know Joe, you always amazed me with the things you did". Can you imagine how great that felt?

Always follow your own instincts- in this and everything else you do. And go amaze your old man.

one thing to remember here though, if you do go against him and decide to mod out your car. dont do so in a fasion that proves him right. what i mean is, dont be stupid about it. dont go out spending all your money on mods and then have to fall back on daddy to help support you because you have no money. i say have fun with the car. thats what its made for, but know your limits and dont excede that.

when I had my accord I loved modding it, and my dad was super pissed that I was toying with his "old baby" even tho he drove it stock till i got it....I put $$$ into it but not a lot, and ended up giving it to my sister...I needed to make sure I was keeping it before I went crazy and I didnt...so I saved up and am now paying for a car I know I willl have fer awhile, where my mods will remain useful and grow over the years....if you know you love the car and know it will be with you for more than 5 years...go crazy, but as mentioned...keep it a hobby, not a lifestyle...and make sure it doesnt swallow you up and cost more to fix then to have just left it alone...also noticed you have an 05...so let it mature awhile and then mod it out man!!
