Ford Cancels the SVT Sport Trac Adrenaline

Maybe they got a brain over at SVTF headquarters and moved them to start the next gen C1 based SVTF :-)

Ford GT discontinued; Sport Trac Adrenaline cancelled

As a part of its "Way Forward" plan, Ford will discontinued its GT supercar according to a report published this morning by the Detroit News. The car is currently built at the Wixom plant, which is scheduled to close next year under the company's restructuring plan. A spokesperson said the company had only planned a two year production run anyway, and that will end in September. Ford will also discontinued the Lincoln LS, according to the report. Lastly, it was reported that Ford has cancelled plans to build the high-performance Sport Trac Adrenaline. The last car to be discontinued will be the Lincoln Town Car. At that point, the Wixom plant will be idled.

good decision..... Ford need the moeny for other projects.. Escape needs makeover, Reflex would be nice, Fiesta, Ecosport, new Focus, finish Fairline, finish Meta One, work on MKS.. that is where money is.. not in niche cars... not now...
SVT must wait a couple of years... when FOrd NA is making profit... then they can start filling in niches..

igor hit it right on the nose - but realistically the super sport compact market is enormous in the USA. They would be fools to let Honda, Subaru, Chevy, Saturn, Dodge, and even Toyota sit there without entering the court.

i think it is very stupid.....i was definitely going to buy that truck when it hit the showroom and i had the money and i say many lightning owners would do the same. it was a performance vehicle that also could also serve other purposes. it would go in the winter, haul a family and groceries while stilll hauling ass. i personally think that was a stupid move considering they probably wont make a focus that will be able to compete with other sport compacts. i am very dissapointed with this move......may just have to switch to another automotive company that can give me a performance truck with versatility like the adrenaline was gonna bring.

^^^hopfully this is what they are thinking about. But i too liked the sport trac when i first saw it, i thought it was one of the coolest trucks i ever saw, even my dad liked it and hes not really into cars. Oh well hopefully something good will come outta this.....svt fusion and svt focus. And about the linclons oh no, what are all those undercover cops going to drive now.....we better all keep our eyes out lol. Plus linclon doesnt need those cars anymore b/c the new zephyr is doing great with sales.

i think ford had to make this move but they are getting killied in the sport compact scene...the svt focus was discontinuted in 04 its 06 now and they still have nothing...and i hope they dont think that the new focus wit the street apperance package will cut it...

i guess they have there other sectors tho with the mazda speed and whatnot...just my 2 cents.

Hmm...I wonder why they cancelled it. So much for expanding SVT.
