Mazda will help Ford beat the Japanese?

Ford does not know how to compete with the Japanese - Mazda will help them.

I guess it's a good thing Ford is the largest shareholder in Mazda.

Mazda to Design Ford Subcompact

It only seems natural, as the Mazda's are much nicer than our Foci. They got VTEC, which is a killer, but still...were America. Until Ford gets its head out of its butt and stops spending all time and resources on the Mustang, we'll never get anything as good as the SVTF again.

Sounds good. yeah the next generation Fiesta is just around the corner... this includes the Mazda2, european Fusion and brazilian EcoSport..

Ford Brazil is in charge of designing the new Ecosposrt and I guess Mazda is developinf the US Fiesta (alongside the MkII Mazda2)...all three are to come to the US...

ETA is MY2008 or 2009

Honda/Acura has VTEC, Mazda does not. Mazda has variable valve timing but it is not called VTEC.

Mazda helped Ford's North American 2nd gen. Escort sell like crazy since it was heavily based on the Mazda 323/Protege, so why not let them try their hand at developing a subcompact for us?

^^ true dat Az. I owned a 323 hatch (pregnant rollerskate) and a protege...both were awesome, super-reliable vehicles. 230k + miles on dem beotches.

Mazda and Ford have done well going hand in hand. Mazda B2500 pickups are rebadged ford rangers, escorts are protege's, etc. Just a matter of realizing who does what best.

^^^i definitly think its great that mazda and ford are teaming up, something this great really hasnt happened since chrysler teamed up with mercedes.....sort of lol, if that kinda makes sense. Anyway, it only makes sense that since the fusion is based of the mazda 6 platform that the focus should be based of the mazda 3 platform right....it would be so easy for Ford right, aka MKII focus. So who knows maybe well be seeing it sooner then we think. But i was really happy when fields took over, and now even more happy that they are pushing towards the subcompact market with mazda. Guys through all our pain and suffering and waiting, it seems theres a good chance that its all been worth it, ive been saying it for a while but i think Ford is really going to come back, not just in the domestic market, but universally as well.
